The Core API defines fundamental building blocks we use to talk about the Electricity System. The European electricity grid is undergoing large changes, and the language used to talk about it is in flux. Each country has it’s own legal and regulatory frameworks, language and roles structure defining who does what. At the same time, the system is increasingly regulated on the European level, which means a shared language is emerging. As much as possible the Engrate API leans on the official Harmonized Electricity Role Model. This helps our APIs be general, making it possible for clients to think about all of Europe in one holistic domain model. At the same time, local differences are still present. Engrate tries to be pragmatic but forward looking:
  • We aspire to a single pan-European model
  • We keep the scope small, naming only those concepts we need for the API
  • Where necessary we augment the harmonized model, Extra Identifier being one such example

Core concepts

  • Party represent market parties, legal entities that serve one or more roles in the system
  • Metering Grid Area are a collection of metering points operated by some Party serving as a system-operator
